Scottish Government School Health and Wellbeing Census 2021/22

At the request of the Scottish Government, all local authorities undertook a national school Health & Wellbeing Census during the 2021/22 session. All primary and secondary pupils from P5 to S6 had the chance to undertake the survey, which was designed to find out about the health and wellbeing of children and young people at a local level.  The questions in the survey were age appropriate and covered a range of health and wellbeing topics including mental health, social media, bullying, relationships, eating and sleeping behaviours. Individual, school level reports will be available to help inform planning around health and wellbeing.

Previously, Glasgow has carried out a school health and wellbeing survey in conjunction with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) for a number of years. The results of the most recent surveys can be found below.

2019/20

Between December 2019 and March 2020, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership and Glasgow City Education Services conducted the fourth Health and Wellbeing Survey in Glasgow City Secondary Schools. For the first time, the survey was carried out electronically.

The survey aimed to gather current demographic information on the pupil population, report data on key areas of health, and gain an understanding to individual pupil perceptions of their health and wellbeing.

Due to technical issues and the closure of schools for the COVID-19 pandemic, levels of participation varied across the participating schools. Data has been reported for 7,543 S1 to S4 pupils. Although more responses were anticipated, it remains one of the largest cohorts for a survey of its type and has yielded a rich dataset of insight into the lives of young people in Glasgow City.

As well as a City report, three Locality reports are available. Click on the links below to access each of these.
