Mental health in pregnancy and after birth (SIGN)

This toolkit aims to support health and social care professionals, women/birthing parents and their families to work together to make the best decisions about care and support for mental health needs during and after pregnancy.

It provides information on mental health conditions during and after pregnancy, along with practical information and resources for support. It is based on recommendations from the SIGN (Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network) guideline, along with other relevant information and resources.

Recommendations from SIGN are highlighted throughout the toolkit in green boxes with the following symbols:

R - a recommendation based on research evidence, or through expert opinion if there was no evidence.

Good practice point - suggestions for good practice based on the experience of the guideline development group.
