Warning

When administering two different eye drops scheduled for the same time allow 5 minutes between drops to allow adsorption and prevent the first drop being washed out. Administer cyclopentolate eye drops first. 

Product Use  Dose
Cyclopentolate 0.5% eye drops   Facilitate mydriasis where required for eye examination 1 drop each eye at 30 and 15 minutes prior to exam
Used following laser treatment for ROP  1 drop each eye 12 hourly for up to 14 days after laser 
Phenylephrine 2.5% eye drops  Facilitate mydriasis where required for eye examination  1 drop each eye at 30 and 15 minutes prior to exam 
Dexamethasone 0.1% eye drops  Used following laser treatment for ROP  1 drop each eye 6 hourly for up to 14 days after laser 
Carbomer 0.2%  eye drops  Provide artificial tears while infant paralysed with neuromuscular blocking agents  1 drop 4 times a day 
Hypromellose 0.3%  Provide artificial tears while infant paralysed with neuromuscular blocking agents  1 drop 4 times a day 
Chloramphenicol eye drops 0.5% To treat eye infection  One drop into each eye every 4 hours for 2 days, then reduce to every 6 hours for a further 5 days
